WINNIPEG – A 12-year-old boy has been charged with arson in the fire that destroyed a band office and the only grocery store at Shamattawa First Nation
Six children are believed to have been involved in the September 22nd fire.
RCMP say because five of them are under the age of 12, they cannot be charged.
The blaze prompted a state of emergency on the remote first nation.
Over 1500 residents were without supplies or emergency services.
In the weeks since, a temporary store has been built while other supplies were flown in.
