WINNIPEG – Preparations are underway at Investors Group Field for the NHL Heritage Classic later this month.
They’re getting ready to use the refrigeration truck to make ice and they’ve already built part of the stage and deck that will support the rink.
Mike Craig, senior manager of facility operations at the NHL says they’re paying close attention to the weather for the next few weeks but so far, it looks good.
“That’s always the most challenging thing,” says Craig. “Looking at the forecast [and] the weather we have right now, there’s nothing really that stands out as anything we haven’t seen before or poses any significant challenges. We always watch it and always try to prepare for anything that we get.”
The Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets hit the ice on Sunday, October 23rd for the outdoor game, preceded by an alumni match on Saturday, October 22nd where alumni from both teams will face off at the stadium.
