WINNIPEG – Two people have been charged after someone fired a sawed-off shotgun in a house on Arlington Street Sunday night.
Winnipeg Police were forced to shut down a stretch of the road near Sargent Avenue that lasted into the Monday morning rush hour.
Const. Rob Carver says several people were inside the house and they aren’t exactly sure what happened.
“Doesn’t look like anyone had a weapon pointed at them,” Carver said. “I can’t say as to why someone would have pulled the trigger, but it doesn’t look like it was directed at an individual.”
Police say several people were removed from inside the house, but officers were unable to persuade all the occupants to come out and closed Arlington to all traffic.
Officers managed to finally get everyone out at around 8:30 a.m. and found a sawed-off shotgun.
John Luke Stengel, 30, faces 12 charges and remains in custody.
A 40 year old woman was also arrested and is facing charges. She was released on a promise to appear in court.
