WINNIPEG – Homeowners in River Heights are up in arms over a neighbour’s plan to keep numerous pigeons on his property.
He’s applied to the city to build a coop to house the racing pigeons at his house near the corner of Mathers Avenue and Lanark Street.
It would be six feet high and hold up to 45 birds.
City staff are actually recommending allowing it.
But several people in the area have already launched a formal appeal.
They’re worried about noise, health risks, bad smells and even a decrease in their property value.
A city hall committee will debate the idea at a meeting on Thursday.
