WINNIPEG – The parents of a baby that almost died because of suspected fentanyl in the home have been arrested.
Police and paramedics were called to a home on Aikins Street last week because the nine month old boy was in medical distress.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Police noticed what they believed to be fentanyl and called the hospital to tell them.
The doctors and nurses were able to save the boy’s life.
The parents, on the other hand, are in deep trouble now.
Police say they found ten ounces of suspected fentanyl powder in the home as well as drug paraphernalia.
A 33-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were arrested yesterday and charged with failing to provide the necessities of life and causing harm by criminal negligence.
They’re also charged with drug trafficking.
Both remain in custody.
Police say the baby is safe and in care.
