WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is in line to post a huge deficit this year.
In April, the health authority told 680 CJOB their deficit was $44 million in the last fiscal year.
Now they’re saying it could be up to $100 million.
By comparison, last year’s deficit was just under $3 million on a budget of close to $3 billion.
The WRHA does hope to bring it down significantly by the end of its fiscal year on March 31st.
To that end, they’re searching for ways to save money that won’t affect patient care.
