WINNIPEG – They may have outshot Buffalo 38-28 but that didn’t translate into goals as the Winnipeg Jets fell short Sunday afternoon at MTS Centre after the Sabres defeated them 3-1.
Before the game, the injury bug had bitten the Jets once again, as Tyler Myers sat out the game against his former team with a lower-body injury.
That adds to a list of injured jets: Drew Stafford is day-to-day with a lower body injury, and Bryan Little remains on the injured reserve with an injured leg.
The Sabres scored early with two goals less than three minutes apart in the first period, maintaining a 3-0 lead for the first 40 minutes of play.
Nikolaj Ehlers, assisted by Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien scored the lone Jets goal almost five minutes into the third period.
The Jets have a day to rest up as they welcome the Washington Capitals Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.
