WINNIPEG – Two men and one teenage boy have been arrested after going on a crime spree that resulted in over $100,000 in damage.
The suspects would typically target businesses late at night, stealing cash and cigarettes.
It’s alleged they broke into 45 different businesses and homes across the city dating back to September.
This crime spree came to an end early Wednesday morning after the police chopper along with the canine unit was dispatched to a vehicle break-in.
The suspects abandoned the car and fled on foot.
They were eventually cornered in Elmwood and arrested.
They are now facing numerous theft related charges.
Constable Jason Michalyshen says this is why it’s important to file police reports.
“It certainly worked out where we were able to put information together and ultimately respond to a call and finally those pieces all came together,” says Michalyshen.
Michalyshen adds police may not solve every crime right away but break-ins are always a high priority.
In addition to the damage caused, the total value of the stolen property is worth at least $100,000.
