WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s crown corporations minister is furious about a new downtown lease for Liquor and Lotteries.
A 20 year lease has been signed for 50,000 square feet of space in True North Square.
It was done so under the directive of the previous government.
Ron Schuler tells 680 CJOB that amount of space is way more than necessary.
“We have a store right now of just under 4000 square feet in City Place,” says Schuler. “So we’re going to go from, I think, 3700 square feet to 50,000 square feet and this is going to cost us millions.”
Schuler says it would be the biggest in Canada.
He also accuses the past NDP government of ditching due process to get the lease signed.
