A 19-year-old man is dead after a fatal collision Saturday night.
St.-Pierre-Jolys and Steinbach RCMP arrived at the scene of a crash on Highway 52, just west of Highway 206 on Saturday around 10:30 p.m.
The two vehicle head-on collision was between a car and a pick-up truck.
The only person in the car was a 19-year-old man from Kleefeld, Manitoba. He died at the scene.
Officers said the male and female driver and passenger in the pick-up truck are both 47 and from Mitchell, Manitoba. They both sustained serious injuries but are in stable condition.
Zachary Giesbrecht tells Global News his parents, Quintin and Beth, were the two in the pick-up truck.
Giesbrecht said his mother described suddenly seeing a vehicle coming towards her out of nowhere as they were making their way home from Winkler to Mitchell.
He said his mother remembered being pulled out of the pick-up truck just moments before it exploded.
Officers said when they arrived on scene the pick-up appeared to have caught fire.
They said the investigation is just in its beginning stages and there’s no indication as to how the head-on collision occurred.
