WINNIPEG -Efforts to clear up all the snow around the city continue today.
The Declared Snow Route Parking Ban remains in effect and will continue until Wednesday at 7 a.m. This ban prohibits parking on snow routes between midnight and 7 a.m. Vehicles that violate this ban could be towed, and car owners could receive a ticket of as much as $100. Right now the city is focusing on clearing the main roads and bus routes. Plowing of residential streets will take place Wednesday night, with a Residential Parking ban coming into effect at 7:00 p.m.
On some of the main roads, there was so much snow that crews had to plow it over to the curb lane temporarily as there was no room for it on the boulevards. The city will eventually move that snow away by trailer.
Sidewalk plowing began on Monday morning at 7 a.m. and will continue today, while back lane plowing started this morning at 7 a.m. and will continue for the next four days.
The storm on Christmas night brought approximately 23 centimetres of snow to Winnipeg.
