WINNIPEG – The Western Canada Lottery Corporation has released the lottery winner breakdown for 2016, and Manitoba is well represented.
There were 11 winners from Manitoba, totaling over $13 million. Of those eleven winners, eight were from Winnipeg.
Alberta had the most wins with 38, totaling over $130 million. Only eight winners were from Saskatchewan.
The two biggest payouts went to two women in smaller towns. A $60 million prize went to a woman in Neville, Saskatchewan, and a $50 million prize went to a woman in Irma, Alberta.
In total, 57 prizes of $1 million or more were claimed from tickets purchased on the Prairies. These prizes totalled more than $218 million.
