WINNIPEG – The final numbers are in for the RCMP’s holiday checkstop program.
For the last four weeks, officers stopped close to 12,000 vehicles at 250 checkstops.
They charged 122 people with impaired driving offences or refusing a breathalyzer.
Officers issued over 2600 other traffic offences.
The stats are higher than the previous year, when Mounties pulled over 1000 fewer vehicles at 205 checkstops.
They charged 105 people with impaired driving offences or refusing a breath test.
However, other traffic violations were significantly lower with just over 1400 offences in 2015.
