WINNIPEG – Manitobans will have a chance to ask experts about fentanyl and other drugs, during a series of upcoming forums.
The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba is hosting panel discussions at cities across the province to answer questions about opioids.
“There will be many experts from the Addictions Foundation, representatives from the RCMP, paramedics, other organizations that work within the addictions domain, there will be youth based counsellors,” explains AFM medical director Ginette Poulin. “In a time where opioids are a crisis, fentanyl has certainly come to the forefront. We want to educate and inform people, and answer questions within their community setting.”
The first forum will be in Dauphin Wednesday, with two coming to Winnipeg in February.
“Unfortunately, we know that a lot of people do not come forth with their problem, be it fentanyl, other opiates or any addictions for that fact,” Poulin says. “It’s an opportunity to increase that awareness, and I think we have a lot of work to do.”
