WINNIPEG – A lot of Winnipeggers still approve of the job Mayor Brian Bowman is doing but not as many as used to.
A new poll from Mainstreet/Postmedia pegs Bowman’s approval rating at 53 percent as of the New Year, down from 63 percent last summer.
While Bowman scores a 53 percent, city council has an approval rating of 50 percent.
The poll finds mayors across the country are generally above the 50 percent mark.
Ottawa’s Jim Watson scored the best, at 79 percent.
Canada’s least-popular mayor – at 42 percent – is London, Ontario’s Matt Brown, who had an affair with the city’s deputy mayor.
