Vehicle owner home addresses are going to be removed from registration cards.
The change is being introduced for registration renewals and new registrations on March 1st or later.
It’s intended to protect the privacy and security of vehicle owners.
Ward Keith with Manitoba Public Insurance says it’s a simple step to eliminate a lot of hassle.
“Many customers leave vehicle registration cards in the glove compartments of their vehicles and that makes them susceptible to being taken,” Keith explained.”If they happen to be taken then the person that takes it has access to the home address of the registered owner, and they might even have access to a garage door opener.”
Other provinces like Quebec and Saskatchewan have already adopted this policy.
This applies to only non-commercial vehicles.
