WINNIPEG – Forty-six percent of Winnipeggers believe safe injection sites for drug users in the city would be a good idea.
That’s according to a Mainstreet – Post Media poll conducted earlier this month.
Twenty-three percent of the 605 people polled strongly approve of the idea while another 23 percent somewhat approve.
About one-third of those surveyed opposed the idea.
The conversation around safe injection sites has heated up since the rise in fentanyl overdoses.
The national poll says Winnipeg ranked in the middle of the pack in terms of support for injection sites.
