WINNIPEG – A record-setting performance from Ondrej Pavelec helped the Winnipeg Jets defeat the St. Louis Blues 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at MTS Centre.
Pavelec, in his second game since being called up from the Manitoba Moose on Tuesday, set a franchise record by stopping 25 shots in the second period, breaking his own Atlanta/Winnipeg franchise record of 24 saves.
The downside to that, is that ties a rather unfortunate franchise record for the team — most shots allowed in a period.
Bryan Little scored twice for the Jets, while Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers all added goals.
Scoring for St. Louis — Kevin Shattenkirk, twice, and Paul Stasny.
The Jets will go for their first three-game win streak of the season when they host the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.
