WINNIPEG – A pair of pepper spray attacks in the northwest area of the city could be linked to the same suspect.
The first happened Sunday night just after 9:00 PM on Sheppard Street near Inkster when a man answered his doorbell and he was immediately sprayed.
Winnipeg Police say less than an hour later, another man was sprayed nearby on Jefferson Avenue near Sheppard.
Constable Rob Carver tells Global News, both attacks appear to be random.
“He was pepper sprayed and the attacker left,” says Carver. “In the second [attack], the suspect may have attempted to continue the attack but… our victim was able to flee to safety.”
The first victim did not get a good look at the suspect but in the second incident, the suspect is described as an aboriginal man, who’s in his twenties.
Both victims were taken to hospital as well as three kids under the age of five who were in the house during the first attack.
He was wearing a black jacket with a hoodie and a neck warmer to cover his face.
