WINNIPEG – Get ready to pay more in school taxes again this year.
In the wake of the provincial government reining in spending on public education this year, school divisions are asking you to help make ends meet.
The Winnipeg School Division is considering a tax hike of anywhere from 3% to 4.5%.
Pembina Trails is looking at 3.5% increase, which amounts to roughly $75 on the average home.
The other school divisions in the city will release their draft budgets shortly.
The province is only increasing spending for education by one per cent this year, which is less than the rate of inflation and less than previous hikes in funding.
