WINNIPEG – Two Brandon police officers have been charged after an investigation by the province’s police watchdog.
This past September, an officer was taking a drunk man in his cruiser to their correctional centre.
The cruiser was rear-ended by another police car, resulting in the drunk man hitting his head.
He also got a cut over his eye hitting his head in a different part of the journey.
One officer faces careless driving charges while the other has been charged with driving imprudently, which is a step below careless driving.
The Independent Investigation Unit looks into any injury or death that occurs in police custody or in the presence of officers.
