WINNIPEG – Just months after finding a large sum of cash in the south end of the city, Winnipeg police have found more money in the North End.
At a media conference Thursday, police spokesperson Constable Rob Carver, said a large sum of cash was found in the north part of the city, but was not able to say how much was found.
If you have any information about the money you can call police at 204-986-6048 by April 11th. After that date the money will be disposed of, Carver said.
The person would be required to provide verification of ownership as determined by police, he added.
This is the second time in a few months police have found a large sum of money.
In December, someone found a large amount of cash in the south part of the city. Global News learned the amount was potentially in the “tens of thousands”.
Carver said finding this much cash on the street is unusual.
“I have been doing media releases for around eight years,” Carver said. “I cannot remember in the time I have been doing this that we have had one… let alone two [sums of cash found]. It’s Just a random chance”
“They appear absolutely not related. Every detail of it looks different,” he said.
In the second case the police also said they will dispose of the cash if it is now claimed by March, 2017.
