Winnipeg – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers had the 2016 CFL Special Teams Player of the Year in Kicker Justin Medlock. Now GM Kyle Walters has strengthened the special teams unit, and bolstered the Canadian depth chart with the addition of free agent Mike Miller. The soon to be 28 year old from Riverview, New Brunswick led all CFL players with 27 special teams tackles for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2016.
“Mike is a solid all-around football player,” said Walters in a Bomber news release. “His work on special teams speaks for itself, but from all accounts, he’s another great addition inside our locker room as well. His experience in this league will be a great asset for our younger players.”
The 6-1, 215 pound Acadia grad is a veteran of 104 CFL games, all with Edmonton, and has 116 career special teams tackles. Miller also suited up for 8 playoff games and was part of the Eskimos 2015 Grey Cup Championship squad.
