WINNIPEG – The River East Transcona School Division has approved their 2017 budget.
It means a 2.7 per cent increase in school taxes this year, or roughly $44 for the average house.
The increase reflects inflation as the budget doesn’t contain any new programs or services.
Salaries and benefits represent about 85 per cent of the total budget.
Roughly 3,000 people are employed by the school division. Just over 16,000 kids attend 42 schools in the district.
