There’s a first official candidate in the race to be leader of the Manitoba NDP.
Michelle McHale will officially throw her hat into the ring at a launch event in Osborne Village tomorrow.
McHale gained national headlines as a lead organizer of the Steinbach Pride Parade last year but has no political experience.
She says someone approached her about running back in December…and she’s spent months talking to NDP members about what they want in a leader…
“I think whats needed right now is a coming home to the values that are already there, that were established a long time ago… and really being connected with the people in the province and with the real issues we are facing.”
McHale has been involved in the labour movement and has spent over a decade working in health care.
A new leader will be picked in September.
