WINNIPEG – It’s official, MTS in Manitoba is now Bell MTS.
Bell has completed it’s takeover of Manitoba Telecom Services.
The deal is worth $3.9 billion. It received CRTC approval in December and the federal government signed off in February.
Bell are promising to leave prices on wireless plans the same for one year. They could rise after that.
Bell says it will invest $1 billion over the next five years in a wireless network expansion plan across Manitoba, including in Winnipeg. Winnipeg will also become their headquarters for a head office in Western Canada.
Bell also says the deal will come with better wireless service in rural communities, including Churchill which is getting 4G LTE service today.
