WINNIPEG – More than one thousand sightings of UFOs were reported in Canada throughout 2016 but the Winnipeg group that studies the numbers says only four per cent of them cannot be explained.
That’s the lowest rate in the 28 years that Ufology Research has been producing the Canadian UFO Study.
Study author Chris Rutkowski says that’s likely the result of more careful scrutiny of the information available.
Summer is the big time of year for UFO sightings and most are reported as lights in the sky.
The provinces with the largest populations had the most reports, so Quebec led the country with 38.5 per cent of the sightings, while Ontario had 26 per cent and British Columbia had 17 per cent.
The most popular shape of UFO reported in 2016 was a simple point of light but they also came in other shapes such as triangle, cigar and fireball.
