CP Railway says it has taken 2-thousand workers off the job.
That's in addition to the 48-hundred employees represented by the Teamsters who went on strike just after midnight. Spokesman Ed Greenberg says in light of the strike, the other unionized workers' services aren't needed, so they're being temporarily laid off. He says another 14-hundred may also find themselves temporarily out of work. Labour minister Lisa Raitt says she's prepared to introduce back to work legislation to end the walkout. She says a prolonged strike could cost the Canadian economy more than 500-million dollars a week.
