Edmonton police are revealing details of a shocking case of child abuse involving twin girls.
Police began investigating in late May when they were alerted to a situation in an Edmonton home.
They found two year old twin girls including one who was in cardiac arrest and another who had suffered numerous injuries.
Paramedics were able to revive the girl in cardiac arrest but she remains on life support in hospital.
The other girl is also in hospital.
Both children were extremely malnourished.
A third child, a boy, was unharmed and is now in foster care.
The parents of the girls have been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm and two counts of failing to provide the necessities of life.
They can not be named.
