NDP leader Thomas Mulcair is the last of the federal politicians to make an appearance at the Calgary Stampede. And despite wearing the traditional white cowboy hat, some would say his comments in the heart of the oil patch are more in keeping with the villainous wearers of black hats. The federal opposition leader didn't make many friends in Alberta when he said the economic growth of the province is having a negative impact on the export markets in the rest of the country. Now he is saying that his party is totally against the Northern Gateway pipeline project in northern B.C. especially with the comments against Enbridge from the U-S government, "Realize it's not our opinion, it's the opinion of the highest level of the U-S government that they're simply not capable of doing the job properly in the U-S and I don't think that we should be taking that risk with our eco systems" Mulcair says more processing of bitumen should be done at home and there are already pipelines to the west coast and he doesn't want to see tankers in the pristine areas of Northern B.C.
