Edmonton police used a satellite thirty six thousand kilometres above the earth to catch a spaced out credit card scammer.
The criminal space cadet, a thirty something woman from Quebec and certainly not a rocket scientist, rented a nice, new car from a local Budget outlet.
The clerk called police after determining too late that the credit card she used was stolen.
Police tapped into GM's On-Star system and a GPS satellite orbiting the earth pinned down the car's location in the parking lot at West Edmonton Mall.
All officers had to do was put the car under surveillance and wait.
Sure enough, the suspect showed up with her arms full of electronics, cameras, computer gear and high end clothing.
The eleven thousand dollar shopping spree was done using more stolen credit cards and now many charges are pending.
