The driver of an SUV has turned himself into RCMP after two people were struck and killed in a hit and run in northeastern Alberta. It took place early Saturday morning along Highway 55, near Cold Lake. The victims, a 24-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, were standing at the side of the road with an E-M-S worker who had stopped to help out. They were inspecting the damage done to the victims vehicle after it was involved in an unrelated collision, when the S-U-V slammed into them. The man and woman were killed, while the Good Samaritan escaped harm and was then able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle to the Mounties. No names have been released, and there's no word on possible charges as the investigation continues. (tk/td)
