The meter is still ticking in a dispute that could have seen most Edmonton taxi drivers go on strike today (Monday).

After pushing their situatiomn to the brink with an overwhelming strike mandate late last week, the 800 drivers are holding off serving 72-hour strike notice on four cab companies.

Organizer Balraj Manhas tells Metro News: "We don’t want to strike right away, But we can still file notice." He's hoping negotiations will resume soon and that there will be a meeting between reps for the drivers and for the companies within a couple of weeks. Until then it will be service as usual.
