It's hard to describe a broken leg and other injuries as "being lucky" but things could have been tragically worse for a cyclist.
The man, believed to be in his thirties, was riding his bike on the 82nd Street overpass crossing the Yellowhead when he came into contact with a transport truck just before six Monday night. He hit the ground hard and was transported to hospital for treatment of an assortment of non life threatening injuries including broken bones.
Edmonton Police collision analysts are investigating the circumstances of the bike-truck contact and will determine if any charges are laid.
