It seems as though Edmontonians have an appetite for Folk Music Festival tickets.
About 1,200 people lined up this morning outside the festival office, while thousands of others tried to get tickets online.
Show Producer Terry Wickham says he's shocked at how fast it sold out in record time and says demand is outstripping supply.
"Well the demand was like a tsunami coming in. We pretty well sold out online in five minutes so it's kind of crazy," says Wickham. "You know, last year we sold out in two hours and this year it was kind of like five minutes so I don't know what we can do. And that was up against Justin Bieber."
Wickham says s that organizers aimed to sell less tickets than last year.
"Because we oversold last year we are going back to our 2010 levels. It's just that we're trying not to oversell this year," continues Wickham. He adds that they did oversell tickets this year but as many as last year.
Last year over 11,100 tickets were sold and about 11,000 were sold this year. (pb/ks)
