A warning is out for those who may give to charities.
RCMP Grande Prairie have received a complaint saying an individual is calling homes and asking for money on behalf of the RCMP to aid children in need.
CPL. Roy Kennedy says the RCMP does not par take in such events.
"The RCMP wants the general public to know that it does not fundraise or solicit funds by telephone nor does it indorse any company organization to solicit on its behalf."
In one particular case, the individual did hand out personal information before phoning RCMP to confirm the charity. They have since frozen their credit card account as a safety precaution.
If you have received a similar phone call, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-654-9426 to file a report of the incident.(dm)
