It's good news for the nearly 200 residents of northern Alberta's Zama City.
Wildfire Information Officer, Whitney Exton, says the wildfire that had been threatening the small hamlet has been declared as being held.
“That means we’re not expecting it to grow with current weather and the firefighters that are assigned to the fire. The rain has certainly helped, but its huge part in thanks to our firefighters who have been working long and hard to contain this wildfire.”
Zama City residents were told to get out late Friday night, when the blaze came within 12 kilometers of the community.
Exton says they should be allowed to return home tomorrow. (ms,bu)
