Dozens take part in hospital rally
Ken Mann
6/7/2012

The union representing workers at the St. Joseph's Healthcare West 5th Campus believes the recent death of a patient should be the subject of a coroner's inquest.

The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions has backed that call by holding a lunchtime rally outside of the hospital.

Union President Michael Hurley says they have numerous systemic concerns about the facility.   He lists understaffing and overcrowding amongst their allegations.

Michael Brewer was killed, and a second patient is charged with second degree murder, after a dispute on the sports field outside of the hospital on May.23rd.   Both men had privileges to be on the grounds at the time.
