Hundreds of fish found dead in Red Hill Creek
Hamilton Spectator
6/20/2012

This hot humid whether may be the reason behind the hundreds of dead fish found in the Red Hill Creek.

The Ministry of Environment says it’s possible the fish died from high temperatures and low oxygen levels in the water as temperatures got up to 31 degrees yesterday with a humidex of 40.

The MOE says with high readings like that, evaporation kicks in and it's not uncommon to have fish die of natural causes.

The city’s environmental monitoring and enforcement team was on-site all afternoon to investigate and monitor the situation.

Public Works says they found no visible signs of pollution, although samples were gathered for further analysis.
