Bermingham takes over former Lakeport plant

A company with deep roots in Hamilton -- is expanding in the north end.

Bermingham Foundation Solutions is celebrating the opening of its new, modern, 60-thousand square foot manufacturing space inside the former Lakeport Brewery plant.

CEO Patrick Bermingham says the five-fold expansion, basically across the road from its existing plant on Ferguson Avenue North, allows the company to retain its highly-skilled talent pool of about 140 dedicated local employees.

The company makes and supplies specialized heavy construction equipment worldwide and also works as a contractor.

Bermingham says the company was bursting at the seams and had been looking to expand in the city but tells CHML News they had trouble finding vacant properties that were actually for sale.

He credits the mayor for intervening and helping get the deal done with the Harbour Commission.

Bermingham says Bob Bratina recognized the value of keeping companies in Hamilton and letting them grow, rather than forcing them to leave and grow elsewhere.

The company expects to continue hiring over the next five years and expects to double its manufacturing output in the next three to four years.
