The late Dominic Agostino has been honoured at a celebration in east Hamilton.
A plaque commemorating his years of public service as a city councillor, MPP, activist and volunteer has been unveiled at the tenth anniversary celebration of the Dominic Agostino Riverdale Community Centre.
His brother Ralph says calls it an honour and a great contribution to keeping his memory alive.
The centre opened exactly ten years ago today (Friday) and Agostino's name was added following his death in 2004.
Councillor Chad Collins says the centre was built because of a grassroots push from students at Lake Avenue School, seniors at Warden Park and residents that were raising families in between.
In September, Riverdale's free-accessible programming will be expanding to include interactive video games and access to computers and the internet.
The centre is hoping to be able to provide free quality sport programming, including indoor soccer, basketball and cricket.
