Burlington's 15 million dollar pier will be open by next summer.
That assurance from Scott Stewart, the city's General Manager of Development and Infrastructure ---- who predicts that steel girders will be arriving and welding issues will be resolved in the coming weeks.
Stewart insists they are nearing the end of the project --- after years of setbacks and delays.
He calls the waterfront the festival centre of Burlington and says they want to make walking 132 metres out onto the lake is one of the things people can add to their festival experience.
Stewart adds that they won't sacrifice "expediency for safety".
