Hamilton police are still putting the pieces together after pulling the body of a woman from the water at Bayfront Park.
Police were called to the north end park just after 11 o'clock Wednesday night after citizens reported hearing screams coming from someone in the water.
When officers arrived at the scene they could not see anyone in distress.
The Hamilton Beach Rescue Unit was called in and pulled the woman’s body from the water.
The woman, believed to be in her 40s, was pronounced dead at hospital.
Investigators say foul play is not suspected, but they are trying to figure out how or why the woman ended up in the water.
A large part of Bayfront park remains closed while police continue their investigation.
