Hamilton has recorded its first probable case of West Nile Virus for 2012.
The city's public health services division says the patient is a woman in her 20's who is recovering well --- from a moderately serious illness including fever.
Human cases have previously been reported this summer in Halton, Toronto and a number of other southern Ontario communities.
Medical officials add that the risk of infection has moved from moderate to high --- making it more important than ever to take precautions against being bitten by mosquitoes.
