The Province has further reduced the number of companies on a short list to snap up liquor distribution services -- to four. Labour Minister Margaret MacDiarmid says it was supposed to be three but two companies were deemed to be in a tie for third. MacDiarmid was asked if the government has assurances none of the bidders are working together behind the scenes.
"They went through a process and their proposals were ranked. There are 4 separate proposals from 4 seperate companies - and in terms of the business relationship between the different companies, I don't have knowledge of that, but that really hasn't been part of the process as I understand it."
The four are Exel Canada, Container-World, Kuehne + Nagel, Metro Supply Chain Group. A winning bidder will be announced in October.
