Police are searching for a male suspect after a robbery earlier this evening.
Police say a business was robbed in the 18-hundred block of Grant Avenue at around 8 PM.
The suspect was armed.
No one was injured and arrests have not been made.

Some cattle producers near Lake Manitoba have their doubts the province's 100-million dollar project to reduce lake levels will make a difference.
Teresa and her husband Greg Johnson near Vogar tell CJOB the plan offers no solution for Lake Manitoba:
Greg Johnson believes there needs to be another outlet for water to leave the lake.

Premier Greg Selinger says the crest of Lake Manitoba is expected in the next few days.
He tells CJOB flood experts are watching the water levels very closely.
Some good news on the flood fight as residents of Souris and Wawanesa are going back home after being out of their homes because of the swollen Souris River.

A desperate call for help has been put out by residents of Lundar Beach in the RM of St. Laurent along Lake Manitoba.
Evacuated resident Noreen Duncan is a long time resident and tells CJOB they are sending out an S.O.S.
She says they need sandbaggers this weekend and through next week because the water is still rising..
If you can help out, go to the Lundar Beach Provincial Park Parking lot up until 4 today. Lundar Beach is about 120 kilometers north of Winnipeg on Provincial Road 4-19. Or contact 1-204-762-5621.

The floodway was put back into operation this morning.
Water Stewardship's Steve Topping tells CJOB how long it will remain that way....
Currently James Avenue is at 17.65 feet.
Meanwhile... along the Souris River at Melita, Hartney, Souris and Wawanesa, dikes are being monitored and maintained over the next week, as the crest moves through Manitoba.
The Souris is due to crest in Wawanesa today.

The crest of the Souris river is expected in the town of Souris today.
The latest forecast says the crest could be lower than initially thought, due to minimal rain in the Souris basin.
Mayor Darryl Jackson tells CJOB there is a sense of relief in the town...
Global National correspondent Crystal Goomansingh tells CJOB even if the crest is lower residents are glad they worked hard the past couple of weeks in preparation...
The crest could be as much as two feet lower than expected.

With the crest of the Souris River expected in Souris between July 7th and 10th, Mayor Darryl Jackson would like to finish preparing for record high water levels sooner rather than later:
Jackson says about 200 people are working at flood mitigation in various capacities today. He says about of them are local contractors operating heavy equipment.

While Southwestern Manitoba continues to brace for increased water levels from the Souris, Minot, North Dakota is working on flood relief. Thursday, the ING Foundation made a 50-thousand dollar contribution to the Minot Area Community Foundation. The company has 900 employees in Minot who've been delivering food and beverages to workers and volunteers helping at the city's flood assistance centre and evacuation centre.

Southwestern Manitoba communities are bracing for another round of high water. The Souris River is expected to crest for a third time in about a week. Kevin Bowie who had to leave his home this past Sunday tells CJOB.. he's never seen anything like it:
Bowie says currently, heavy equipment is concentrating on protecting the water treatment plant and the sewage treatment plant. However he says crews are also working diligently on a dike... along a 1.5 kilometer stretch of river to protect a row of homes.

The flood fight is ramping up in Souris, Melita, Hartney and Wawanesa. Paul Guyader of Manitoba EMO says engineers have identified what still needs to be done to protect the communities from the rising Souris River:
Record inflows from the Souris in Manitoba and the Northern U.S. will empty into the Assiniboine River upstream of Portage la Prairie... once again putting pressure on dikes along the Assiniboine.

There are 80-thousand sandbags in the parking lot at Lundar Beach waiting to be put into place. One of the flood evacuees says since it's the residents responsibility to get the bags where they should be... they're encouraging volunteers to join them tomorrow morning at the Lundar Beach Campground to get organized. They've even put out a "catchy pitch".. promising a good workout, the opportunity to meet new friends, lunch and coffee breaks, and a day at the beach! Canada's western premiers want Ottawa to develop a new long-term national disaster mitigation program. Manitoba premier Greg Selinger told CJOB such a program would allow provincial jurisdictions to invest in infrastructure projects that would prevent damage to families and homes..
Selinger says they also want to work with the federal government to have stand-alone offences for home invasions, car-jackings and knife related attacks..

There's more flood trouble in Manitoba. Steve Topping of Manitoba Conservation says because of all the rain in Southeast Saskatchewan over the past few days there are two major areas of concern -- on the Souris river system and Saskatchewan river system in The Pas. Topping says they have acted quickly after discussions with the Saskatchewan watershed authority..
Topping says crests are expected by the end of the month. He adds the rising water will affect about 100 homes in the Ralls island area and about 30 to 40 homeowners in the Carrot river ...
