Mike Pagtakhan now faces a challenger for his Point Douglas council seat this fall...
Herman Holla registered his campaign for the inner-city ward Thursday afternoon.
It's not Holla's first run at a council seat...
In 1989, he ran against Glen Murray and Sam Katz for the Fort Rouge council seat. In 1998, he challenged Harvey Smith in Daniel McIntyre.
Transcona's Russ Wyatt and Dan Vandal of St. Boniface are the only remaining incumbent's in this civic election landscape.
Citizens go to the polls October 27.

A 17 year old youth is charged with robbery with a weapon in connection with an incident on Portage Avenue downtown on Tuesday.
At approximately 7:00 p.m. a group of males were in the area of the 300 block of Portage Avenue, when a 17 year old male suspect began arguing with a 47 year old male.
The dispute escalated to the point where the accused pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper body. He then stole his backpack. Police in the area arrested the suspect in the area shortly after. The victim's condition in hospital has since been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

Hundreds of fans lined up in Regina to get their hands on one of three million Saskatchewan Roughrider loonies unveiled by the Royal Canadian Mint. The loonie, with a giant ``S'' on one side, was minted to help the football club celebrate its 100th anniversary. James Love, chairman of the board of the mint, jokes that he thinks fans will be delighted to get the coin even if it was minted in Winnipeg, which is home to the Blue Bombers. Love says he doubts the coins will see much circulation as fans pocket the collectible. The Riders are only the second team to get centennial loonies after the mint introduced a one dollar coin to mark the Montreal Canadiens 100th anniversary last year.

The owner of a construction company where a teenage worker was killed by burning asphalt is facing more than 2-dozen new charges. Gerald Shepell is charged with 29 counts under the Workplace Health and Safety Act. In July, 2008, a 15-year-old boy working for Interlake Paving was buried in asphalt while working in Stony Mountain. Court documents show among the charges are eight counts of failing to ensure the safety, health, and welfare of workers. Shepell was earlier charged under the province's Employment Standards Code allegedly employing the teen and another Stony Mountain youth in 2008. His next court appearance is October 7th.
