Hazardous Material Crews are cleaning up after a huge fire at the University Of Manitoba yesterday.
The noon hour blaze broke out in the Duff Roblin Building forcing hundreds of students to evacuate from the U of M campus.
The building houses minute amounts of potentially dangerous chemicals, and the structure has been closed for the time being.
University spokesperson John Denakis tells CJOB classes and labs held in the Duff Roblin building will be cancelled Monday until further notice...
Denakis says students and staff will be emailed by Tuesday regarding alternative lab and class locations. Affected departments include Biological Sciences, Psychology, and Textile Sciences.
Fire Platoon Chief Gary Hodgins tells CJOB this morning that the damage exceeds two million dollars.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though it is not believed it was a result of inflammable chemicals.
There were no injuries.
