Manitoba is not changing its approach to seasonal flu vaccine just yet, after unpublished data suggest the shot might raise the risk of catching H1N1. Dr. Joel Kettner is Manitoba's Chief Medical Officer of Health.
Drawn from studies in British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario, the findings appear to suggest people under age 50 who got a seasonal flu shot last year are about twice as likely to catch H1N1 as people who didn't. Kettner says the province has at least a week or two before changing its recommendations on who gets the shot. Ontario announced Thursday afternoon its protocol.
