The newly renovated Bell Hotel will be ready to lease individual housing units to people who had been homeless by mid-July. The renovation of the formerly vacant hotel on Main Street cost 5.7 million dollars. Funding was provided by all three levels of government. Mayor Sam Katz says he hopes this is just the beginning of work to fight homelessness in Winnipeg.
There will be 42 individual units available to be rented or leased long term.
